David Bentley joins Birmingham City

David Bentley - Leaves Spurs on loan

David Bentley, the 26 year-old right midfielder has left Tottenham Hotspur and pitched up at St. Andrews on a short-term loan deal, joining Alex McLeish and Birmingham City until the end of the season.

Bentley was a £16m signing for Juande Ramos in 2008 after a spell at Blackburn Rovers that earned the former Arsenal youngster England recognition, but his spell at White Hart Lane hasn’t worked out for the player as he would have hoped.

Whilst his spell at the club will be remembered for his sensational goal at the Emirates Stadium in that stunning 4-4 draw early in Harry Redknapp’s reign, injuries and the form of Aaron Lennon have limited his chances.

Obviously talented, but no stranger to controversy, the player has been keen to get regular first team football under his belt and that is something he can look forward to at Birmingham, in an environment similar to which he flourished at Rovers.

Here’s wishing him all the best and I hope he is able to regain his best form – He’s far too talented to simply fall by the wayside.
