Fernando Torres has had a transfer request turned down by Liverpool.
The Spaniard is keen to make a move away from Anfield to Chelsea in his quest to win trophies, but the Reds aren’t interested in selling their main man, despite the soon-to-be-signing of Luis Suarez from Ajax.
“He’s under a long-term contract. We expect him to honour the commitment he made to Liverpool and its fans when he signed,” said the Reds in a statement.
“He has submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected.”
Sounds like the Fenway Sports Group are going to play hard-ball with the Spanish World Cup winner – and so they should. If he gives them six more months alongside Suarez, then that may just be enough to change his mind.
