Blackpool have confirmed the signing of Andy Reid, the Sunderland midfielder, on a deal until the end of the season for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been on-loan at Sheffield United for a spell this season, but has now joined Blackpool.
But has he joined as a replacement for club-captain Charlie Adam?
Adam has been the subject of much speculation, amidst reports and rumour linking him with a move to Liverpool.
And after the Merseysiders have had a number of bids turned down for the Scottish international, they are believed to be returning with a £14m deal to take him to Anfield before the closing of tonight’s transfer window.
However, in a twist on the story, odds on Adam moving to Manchester United were today slashed down to 1/5 from an opening price of 16/1 with a certain bookmakers.
Whether he moves, and where to, could prove very interesting, however Andy Reid, with his exquisite left-foot, would be a more than adequate replacement for Ian Holloway and Blackpool.
Update 9:30pm Blackpool chairman Karl Oysten says that Charlie Adam is going nowhere.
So now the Tangerines have three lovely left footed ball players in midfield – Reid, Adam and David Vaughan.
