Tonight has been a joyous occasion, a splendid 2-1 victory over perhaps the best football team the world has seen in the last 15 years or so.
Arsenal, at the Emirates fought bravely and the stellar names, messrs Nasri, Fabregas and the outstanding 19-year-old Jack Wilshere, showed no shortage of quality as they came from a David Villa goal down to beat Barcelona 2-1.
Inspired changes in shape and personnel from Le Professor, Arsene Wenger, enabled Robin van Persie and the much-maligned Andrey Arshavin to turn the match around and the tie in the favour of the Gunners.
So for tonight, celebrate, be happy with the way your side has performed, for the bravery they showed when faced with such a talented opponent.
But beware blowing the trumpet of your side, cruelly dubbed ‘Barca-Lite’ in recent times, after this win.
For in the return leg, it could all go so horribly wrong – as you found last year when Lionel Messi showed why he is the best player in with world, and his four-goal salvo ruined your Champions League dream after a Nicklas Bendtner goal had given you such hope.
It is do-able. Your side is capable. But don’t kid yourselves that the job is done.
The job is only half finished, and Messi, Pedro, Villa, Iniesta, Xavi and co. will be determined to ruin your dreams once again.
So be jubilant tonight, but don’t over-hype and laud your side as you have done so often in the past, only for others to smile should you fail.
