Jack Wilshere hits out on Twitter at the Birmingham player who ‘slapped’ Laurent Koscielny after Martins late winner

Following their despair at being beaten in the Carling Cup final by Birmingham City at Wembley, the Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has hit out at the Birmingham player who ‘slapped’ Laurent Koscielny’s head, via social networking website Twitter.

The incident occurred following the dual mistakes by the French defender, and young ‘keeper Wojciech Szczesny, which allowed Blues striker Obafemi Martins to tap home an easy winner in the 89th minute.

19-year-old Wilshere, a full England international, tweeted: “Well done to the BCFC player who slapped Koscielny on the head when they scored, very big of you!”

Pictures clearly show that the player in question is Birmingham’s former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson, and the two players had a coming together in injury time, as the match slipped away from Arsene Wenger’s side.

Birmingham emerged victorious at Wembley thanks to goals from towering striker Nikola Zigic and the on-loan Martins, whilst Arsenal’s solitary strike came from Robin van Persie.
