Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne is expected to be sidelined for upto a month with a shoulder problem.
The Republic of Ireland international sustained the injury during Wednesday’s disappointing FA Cup 5th round defeat against former club Manchester City, when Gerard Houllier’s side were beaten 3-0.
31-year-old Dunne, will now miss the Premier League matches against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, and the upcoming clash with local rivals Wolves. It is hoped that he will be fit for the clash against another of his former clubs, Everton, on April 2.
“Unfortunately, we’re going to lose Richard Dunne for three to four weeks with a shoulder problem” confirmed Houllier.
“The good thing is, we haven’t got many games during that period.”
James Collins, the Wales international defender, is expected to be fit to replace Dunne at the Reebok Stadium tomorrow.
