Yaya Toure has insisted that his brother and Manchester City team-mate Kolo Toure is not a drugs cheat.
It emerged on Thursday that Kolo Toure had recently failed a drugs test, following City’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester United, but the younger of the two brothers insists that Kolo is not a drugs cheat.
“Kolo is a sane person – he did not use any substance that was illegal” says Yaya Toure, the former Barcelona midfielder.
Yaya, who joined City for £24m in the summer after a trophy-laden spell at the Camp Nou, also believes that the possibility of being labelled a cheat is already having a negative affect on his older sibling.
“My brother is damaged,” added the midfielder.
“And the squad is affected because Kolo is an important man for us and one of our captains. So we want a quick solution to this problem.
“We all have confidence in Kolo. I am at Manchester City due to the insistence of my brother.
“For me it will be very hard to play without him in the team.”
