Yann M’Vila, the highly-rated France international midfielder, could be set for a move to the Premier League this summer, as title-chasing duo Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as Champions League quarter-finalists Tottenham Hotspur and five-time European Cup winners Liverpool, are all preparing to make moves for the £15m rated 20-year-old.
The Stade Rennes midfielder has emerged as one of european football’s most outstanding midfield prospects, the midfield destroyer earning rave reviews for the surprise package of Ligue 1 – Rennes currently sit in fourth place with the best defensive record in the French top-flight – whilst also impressing in his eight appearances for Les Bleus since being handed his debut by Laurent Blanc.
Reports surfacing in France have claimed that Arsenal have been in touch over a possible £15m summer move, as they look to take the midfielder to the Emirates Stadium.
However, according to a source at the French club, no formal move has been made:
“We know there are many clubs who want M’Vila but only a big offer will tempt us to sell him. We have not received any official bids.”
Yet, if Arsene Wenger is interested then he may need to move quickly as it is widely known that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan have been to watch M’Vila in recent weeks – Ferguson travelled to France to see the player in action against Marseille last month – and have earmarked him as a potential signing this summer. Furthermore, M’Vila has gone on record calling United the “club of my dreams.”
Nonetheless, the Premier League top-two aren’t the only English sides to have kept a watching brief on the player either. Tottenham Hotspur number two Kevin Bond has also been to see the player in action, with Spurs eyeing the player as a potential midfield partner for Luka Modric, whilst Liverpool’s Director of Football Damien Comolli has also been asked to be kept informed of any developments concerning the player, who is in the running for the Young Player of the Year award in France
The Premier League isn’t the only major league where M’Vila could end up this summer however. His burgeoning reputation places him at the centre of a number of footballing powerhouse’s shortlists, chief amongst them being Barcelona. Javier Mascherano’s inability to settle at Camp Nou has seen Pep Guardiola earmark M’Vila as a potential replacement, whilst both AC Milan and Bayern Munich hold long-standing interests.
