Manchester United watch Atletico’s David De Gea against Espanyol

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been keeping further tabs on highly-rated Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea by sending his brother Martin Ferguson, to watch De Gea in action against Espanyol on Sunday evening.

The 20-year-old ‘keeper has been the subject of a number of reports in both the Spanish and English press as the heir apparent to current United number one Edwin van der Sar, who will retire this summer.

United boss Ferguson has sent scouts to watch De Gea on numerous occasions this season, and speculation continues to mount that the Spain under-21 international will be moving to Old Trafford this summer in a £20m deal.
