Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets charged by Uefa over racism claim

Barcelona's Sergio Busquets is charged with racially abusing his Real Madrid counterpart Marcelo

Barcelona and Spain midfielder Sergio Busquets is under investigation by Uefa after allegedly making racial remarks towards Real Madrid’s Brazilian full-back Marcelo during the first leg of the two sides Champions League clash.

Real posted a video on their website prior to the second leg showing Busquets allegedly calling Marcelo “mono” (monkey) during the first leg at the Bernabeu.

The case will be heard on Sunday with a decision due the next day.

If Busquets is found guilty, then a multi-match ban is likely to be granted to the player, thus ensuring that he will miss this season’s Champions League final against Manchester United at Wembley on May 28.
