Manchester United have completed the signing of Aston Villa and England winger Ashley Young, the player penning a five-year-deal at Old Trafford.
Young, 25, underwent a medical in Manchester on Wednesday afternoon, and completed the formalities of the deal today, making him United’s second signing of the summer, following the signing of blackburn defender Phil Jones, as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to revamp the squad of the Premier League champions and Champions League runners-up.
Young, spent four years at Villa Park following a £9.6m move from Watford in January 2007. The player was about to enter the last year of his contract with Villa and had indicated that he would not sign a new deal, due to ambitions of playing Champions League football. Liverpool had registered an interest, however when United made their intentions known, Young’s mind was made up that Old Trafford was the perfect next step in his career.
The question now is what role does Ferguson foress for his new signing within the United side?
